About Hunters Lodge
Family Owned & Operated
Cade Hunter founded Hunters Lodge in 2023 with a clear vision: to create a first-class thoroughbred operation focused on education, preparation and individual care. Family owned and operated, Hunters Lodge brings together Cade’s experience in the thoroughbred industry with the Hunter family’s longstanding background in equestrian sport and horsemanship.
Cade’s professional career began at Godolphin, where he gained valuable experience across the stallion and breaking divisions. During his time there, he worked with stallions including Lonhro, Exceed And Excel and Harry Angel, while also developing his skills in the breaking barn under some of the country’s most experienced horsemen.
He later joined Blair and Nikki Richardson at Vantage Hill, where he further developed his horsemanship and assisted with the education of a number of high-class thoroughbreds, including Giga Kick, Don Corleone, Militarize, King’s Gambit, In The Congo, Captivant and Profiteer.
That experience now underpins the day-to-day approach at Hunters Lodge, where Cade remains closely involved in the education, preparation and care of every horse entrusted to the farm.
A Family Built Around Horses
The Hunter family has a deep history in equestrian sport. Cade’s mother, Gail Hunter, was an Australian Showjumping Champion, winning the Australian Senior Titles in 1998 and earning selection to Australian Olympic squads.
Cade and his brother Jake followed in her footsteps. Jake went on to represent Australia internationally, including at the Youth Olympic Games and Nations Cup level, while Cade competed successfully in showjumping from a young age, winning an Australian Junior Grand Prix, being named leading boy rider three times at the Royal Easter Show, and competing to Grand Prix level.
That combination of thoroughbred industry experience and high-level equestrian horsemanship continues to shape the philosophy behind Hunters Lodge today.
Hunters Lodge Today
Today, Cade oversees the day-to-day operation of Hunters Lodge in Singleton, bringing together practical industry experience, a lifelong background in horsemanship and a clear understanding that every horse requires an individual approach.
From breaking-in and pre-training through to spelling and sale preparation, Cade remains closely involved in each stage of a horse’s journey through the farm. The focus is on building confidence, consistency and a strong foundation, while giving each horse the time, education and care it needs to progress.
That hands-on approach sits at the heart of Hunters Lodge. While the operation continues to grow, the philosophy remains simple: high standards, attention to detail and putting the horse first in every decision.
